7 Delicious Breakfast Places In Montreal, Quebec

If you like going out for breakfast or brunch, here are my favorites breakfast places in Montreal.

The thing I miss the most about my life in Canada is the breakfast culture. In France, going out for breakfast is simply not a thing. I guess brunches are becoming trendier here now, but it’s still nowhere near as big in North America. So when I was in Montreal, I used to go out for breakfast very often. Here are some of my favorite places.

1. Allô! Mon Coco

omelette with bacon and a waffle

This one is my favorite. They have several locations across the city, and they offer a large choice of sweet or savory breakfast. Eggs, waffles, pancakes, french toast, fresh fruit, there is so much to choose from. The prices are affordable too, and the portions are very generous. They also offer seasonal items.

My favorite : The marshmallow waffle served with potatoes, eggs, and toast. The specific waffle toppings I used to take (the banana/marshmallow on the picture) don’t seem to exist on the menu anymore, but they have many new ones that sound absolutely delicious. I loved the idea of having both a sweet and a savory dish at the same time.

2. Ben & Florentine

This is one is a very close second. For some reason, I only discovered this place during my last month in Montreal, and I really regret not finding out about it sooner. The potatoes are super flavorful, and their crispy French toast is amazing! Located in the heart of downtown, this place offers a large choice of tasty breakfast meals.

My favorite : the crispy French toast combo, served with eggs, bacon, sausage and fruits. It’s super filling, the French toast is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, it will be my first stop if I ever go back to Montreal!

Here we have another delicious franchise that originated in Montreal, and with so many options to choose from. Omelettes, waffles, French toast and much more: you can be sure to find something you like. The plates are quite big too, so you get plenty of energy to go through the day.

My favorite: The S’more French toast. Super fluffy, with marshmallow and Nutella. So good!

This places specializes in delivery. I discovered it on Uber Eats at the beginning of the pandemics, and it really brightned my quarantine! Starting my day with their breakfast always made me smile. They offer a variety of sweet and savory dishes : eggs, potates, bacon, crêpes, madeleines, etc. Everything to enjoy a great breakfast from the comfort of your home.

5. India Rosa

I would say that this one is the most unique breakfast places on the list. As you can guess from its name, this restaurant offers indian dishes, but with their own twist. The food is amazing, and the mix of sweet, savory and spicy flavors is absolutely delicious. I haven’t had any other breakfast/brunch like this one before. Butter chicken egg benedicts, paneer omelette or chai waffle, if you love Indian food, this place is for you.

My favorite : The Masala waffles with Tandoori fried chicken, I highly recommend!

One of those famous breakfast places in Montreal! This restaurant is very cosy, with an English tea room style atmosphere. Croissant with cheese and ham, French toast, grilled cheese, I tried several of their dishes, and they are all amazing! They even have a full plate to share, with a selection of pastries and spreads.
Note that if you go during the week-end, you may have to wait a little bit before being able to sit.

To finish off this list, I’ll talk about a place that is actually located in the city of Longueuil and not Montreal, but I had to talk about it. They have a room with a glass roof surrounded by trees. I loved the atmosphere, it’s just so nice to enjoy a delicious breakfast under the morning sun and greenery.

My favorite : the pesto omelette! It’s super tasty.
